What do you know about leisure travel?
Traveling for pleasure is a big goal for pretty much everyone. Make sure to learn your options next time; you may be missing out on great ideas!
Some people want to get tan at a beach while sipping cocktails. Others want to explore all that museums and theaters have to offer. There are also people who love hiking, snowboarding and many other extreme sports. Either way, they all have something in common: they love to travel!
Leisure travel is a staple of the hospitality industry for a very simple reason: it gives us what we want. Some time away from everyday obligations and free to do activities we actually enjoy… it is hard to think of reasons not to like such trips. This is why we have written this article about it.
First of all, what is leisure travel?
To keep it in a few words, it is the action of traveling exclusively for pleasure. That means peace and quiet for some people, crowd and excitement for others, but that does not matter here. The common ground is that we embark on leisure travel essentially to make our wishes come true.
As you can imagine, such trips come at a cost. Most people have to save money in advance for them, negotiate days off work, and make household arrangements before traveling. This is why it usually becomes a project of months, sometimes years, to happen just the way we dream of.

How can I travel for leisure?
This is why we wanted to publish this article: there is a world beyond buying a plane ticket and boarding. Deciding where to go, what to do, and how long to stay brings so many variables that it is easy to figure why there are so many companies entirely dedicated to helping you with that.
- All-inclusive trips: the easiest option is also the most expensive. You pay a given amount and have the travel agency provide everything. Those are usually wonderful experiences especially when enjoyed with a group, but some travelers prefer to keep their autonomy.
- Guided trips: the most common option brings along a tour guide; they take the group to visit popular places and do popular activities but keeping a day or two free for you to go out on your own. Many travelers like this pack especially in places they do not know yet.
- Do it yourself: if you are feeling adventurous enough, you can always make all the plans on your own. While that option is more suitable for experienced travelers, it can be quite exciting even if you are going there for the first time. Do not skimp on the research work!
What kinds of leisure trips are there?
As you have seen, there are many reasons why people seek leisure travel. As a result, there are also many kinds of such trips to choose from! In this section, we are going to briefly present the most common ones. However, the beauty of planning our trips is to create even more options!
- Adventure travel: Remote locations, modest accommodations, cutting-edge gear, and a lot of will. Whether you are hiking, skiing, kayaking, or doing any other extreme activities outside, the basic recipe is the same. Be prepared to build some impressive memories!
- Cultural tourism: If you prefer to take it slow, this option is great. You get to select which places to visit and what to see each day. The only rule is to immerse yourself in the vast culture your destination city offers. Make sure to buy some souvenirs on the way back!
- Eco travel: Here, the goal is to enjoy nature. Bathe yourself under a waterfall, see many rare animals, enjoy stunning sunsets… but never forget the “eco” part of those trips: the goal is for travelers to leave the place as generally healthy as they found it, if not better.
- Party travel: Think of “a weekend in Vegas” here. You get to sleep in, dine at fancy places, choose beautiful clothes, and party all night long. Then again, it goes without saying that laws still exist. It is possible to have a great time while remaining a responsible traveler.

What about lodging and transportation?
Planning a leisure trip means working with many variables. For example, you can stay at a fancy resort and travel in a limousine, get a cheap motel room and take the city buses, or pretty much anything in between. The good news is that making those kinds of decisions is not exactly hard.
First of all, there is your budget: we do not want you to spend beyond your means. Besides that, it is a matter of balancing comfort and time/money: as usual, better options cost more. In our opinion, the best solution is to find the most important areas to you and spend more on them.
I’m ready for my leisure trip!
After reading all that, we are sure that you know much more about leisure travel. We hope that all that knowledge helps you plan the trip of your dreams! Researching options and doing math may be tiresome, but rest assured that it pays off. We wish you a wonderful time during the trip.
